As eleições federais alemãs de 26 de setembro de 2021 marcam o fim da chamada era Merkel, depois de 16 anos na liderança do governo. A vitória do SPD por apenas 1.6% de vantagem face à CDU e os bons resultados de várias forças políticas abrem a possibilidade de constituição de diversas coligações multipartidárias. Na União Europeia e na política internacional, o papel da Alemanha será cada vez mais relevante, num contexto de transição do sistema internacional.
